Brief Description of Duties
Incumbent functions as a Staff Assistant to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the David A. Clarke School of Law, Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides administrative and clerical support to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
- In consultation with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs develops class and exam schedules.
- Generates reports on demand as requested by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
- Handles travel arrangements for the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs by preparing travel request documents and completing expense vouchers.
- Updates student, alumni and contacts databases.
- Distributes, collects, and analyze course and faculty evaluations
- Prepares Book Adoptions requirements to meet the deadline of the university bookstore
- Compiles data and writes reports as required by the American Bar Association
- Compiles data and writes reports as required by university accreditation organizations
- Creates and maintains course files.
- Surveys emerging teaching methods and technology to report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Faculty
- Assist in academic research as directed by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
- Conducts new faculty orientation in accordance with law school policy
- Monitors work-study hours for teaching assistants and notifies students and faculty about the remaining amount of the award.
- Assist in the coordination of law school events by scheduling rooms, obtaining food provisions and taking photographs.
- Orders supplies and equipment for the office.
- Operates the photocopy machine and other office equipment
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- High School Diploma; Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred
- Four (4) years of related office experience.

This position is not in the collective bargaining unit.
Depending on the length of service, selectee may be eligible for health and life insurance, annual (vacation) and sick leave and will be covered under the University of the District of Columbia's retirement plan (TIAA).
