Role Summary

As a Primary Developer focused on leading DevOps Engineering, you will provide technical direction and oversite to DevOps Engineers who are assigned to software development teams. This individual will be accountable for assisting software development teams with various aspects of cloud operations including CI/CD pipelines, creating cloud infrastructure templates, IT operations such as system monitoring and alerting as well as fostering an environment of modern cloud infrastructure management. You will be responsible for driving towards a model of code as infrastructure by educating DevOps Engineers on industry best practices working towards simplifying the process of leveraging cloud assets. This individual will be an automation evangelist as someone who promotes automating processes wherever feasible to increase agility and improve reliability.

You will work with the Enterprise Cloud Engineering team to help convert industry best practices into organizational standards which will serve to increase development team productivity, reducing time to market, standardize execution and scale for expansion globally. You will be a technology leader, builder, and operator who plays a key role in the evolution of our DevOps practice.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to others, promoting an open DevOps culture

Help to define new patterns and standards as required

Direct project teams toward solutions that align with agreed guiding principles, strategy, architecture and standards

Display an ownership mindset and be accountable for the team's deliverables

Utilize agile practices to ensure consistent and transparent execution

Lead DevOps team meetings on an as-needed basis

Review solutions prior to execution and provide constructive feedback

Qualifications

Position Requirements

  • Strong people collaboration skills and leadership with experience in helping drive organizational change in companies
  • Experience designing and building tooling and infrastructure for Microsoft Azure
  • Strong understanding of cloud first/smart application design - Serverless vs. Server; PaaS over IaaS
  • Experience with Azure (VMs, Functions, Event Grid, Blob Storage, Cosmos, Data Factory, etc.)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD frameworks, Azure Pipelines and ARM templates
  • Experience automating manual or time-consuming processes
  • Strong scripting experience on both Linux and Windows (Bash Python, PowerShell) including use of the Azure/AWS CLI
  • Experience with API Gateways, DNS routing and reverse proxy servers
  • Experience with various authentication implementations such as Azure B2C, Azure B2B, SAML, JWT, OAuth, OpenID Connect
  • Experience with setting up log aggregators including Application Insights or Sumo Logic
  • General preference is for Azure skills but experience designing and building tooling and infrastructure for AWS technologies a nice to have as well
  • Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with strong communication skills and a sense of ownership and drive
  • Experience with API Gateways, DNS routing and reverse proxy servers
  • Experience setting up and maintaining source code repositories on AWS and Azure Dev Ops
  • Experience designing and building tooling and infrastructure for cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
  • Experience implementing traditional VM, container (ECS, Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless based architectures
  • Experience with setting up log aggregators such as Sumo Logic or Application Insights.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code, automation, monitoring, and the DevOps mindset
  • Familiarity with secrets management tools such as Credstash
  • Familiarity with deployment and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Salt, etc.)
Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience in similar work
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in leading / mentoring a functional team
