A highly skilled telecommunication engineer with at least seven years of experience. Thoroughly proficient with Sonet, Wavelength and Layer 2 networks. Familiar with provisioning and element management systems. Previous experience with broadband circuit maintenance, restoration, provisioning databases and circuit activations. Detail-oriented troubleshooter who takes pride in coming up with optimally effective solutions.

Job Description

Interpret and report on network anomalies to the team, management and customer
Escalate for resolution of network anomalies
Available to submit daily network status report prior to 0700 each business day
Submit after action reports to management and customer as required
Provide pro-active network monitoring of potential jeopardy situations to the network or circuits using Telenium and other Network Management Systems
Gather expectations and requirements for move/add/change/delete services and deliver to the customer
Integrate and coordinate approved move/add/change/delete service requests as needed between internal and external teams
Manage delivery schedule, testing and turn up of move/add/change/delete service requests
Able to coordinate multiple groups internally and externally to provide seamless service to the customer
Provide support for optical protection switch testing outside the continental United States as needed
Work with internal teams to develop strategies for migrating traffic to support new requirements
Develop and maintain availability metrics for SONET and Wavelength services
Present network and circuit updates at regular meetings
Provide updates and feedback to management and the customer
Assist with new proposals
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures
Interpret engineering documents and incorporate them into the current network using CenturyLink systems with no impact to existing services
Mentor team members on Operations and Maintenance (O&M) processes and procedures
Understands and adheres to company policies and practices
Qualifications

Demonstrated experience with SONET based, metro fiber networks, next-generation DWDM systems and IP based systems
Previous experience with broadband circuit maintenance/restoration, provisioning databases and circuit activations preferred
Ability to relate technical issues to management and Government personnel
Prior experience with Infinera, , Ciena, suite of optical and Layer 2 network equipment and network management systems
Previous experience with Government networks and customers preferred
Previous experience with TIRKS preferred
Previous experience with CenturyLink and commercial applications a plus
Previous experience with Telenium and Network Management Systems for identifying and monitoring network anomalies preferred
Ability to interface in a professional manner with management and customer is essential
Associate degree in Engineering, Electronics, Software, or Networks preferred; or a related technical or vocational education or equivalent experience
Seven or more years applicable work experience
Current SSBI preferred
US Citizenship required
