POSITION SUMMARY:
The Paralegal, Employment Law provides support for the employment law team of the Nestle USA legal department. This role will help assist with day-to-day employment matters, the administrative charge process, and litigation efforts. The detail-oriented person filling this position will be adept at maneuvering through large, multi-functional and complex organizations and will demonstrate the ability to foster a positive working relationship with their peers, corporate attorneys, outside counsel and Nestlé client base.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide routine paralegal support to Company attorneys involved in labor and employment-related legal matters.

Respond to routine legal inquiries and draft routine correspondence.

Assist in payment and tracking of vendor invoices in legal billing system.

Assist in electronic discovery process by creating and distributing legal holds, tracking legal holds and custodians as they change positions or leave the Company, assessing when holds can be lifted, in consultation with attorney supervisors, and communicating with hold recipients regarding status.

Assist employment attorney(s) with monitoring and reporting recent employment law trends to department and management. Provide regular updates on employment trends and changes in legislation.

Track and regularly report out to employment law team on status of administrative charge docket.

Coordinate with in-house Litigation team as needed on all employment-related litigation matters.

On cases for which outside counsel is assigned, s erve as initial contact with clients on administrative matters to gather documents and information necessary to prepare written responses to administrative charges. Summarize information gathered for inside and outside counsel, if any, and work with HR to follow up on any additional information needed. Assist outside counsel with scheduling interviews and depositions as necessary.

With supervision of assigned, in-house employment attorney, conduct case-relevant investigations and prepare position statements and exhibits in response to administrative charges.

Conduct necessary legal and/or business research and provide timely, clearly written and relevant information in response to legal inquiries.

Draft form documents and templates, make recommendations regarding standardized and best practices to facilitate processes, procedures and policies.

Assist with implementation of new policies and/or procedures.

Oversee and manage research projects by outside firms to completion.

Other duties as assigned, such as assisting supervising attorneys with workflow submitted for review by clients; maintaining content on employment law share drive and generating and distributing reports as requested

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
Undergraduate degree preferred.

National accreditation as a Certified Paralegal strongly preferred.

Notary license a plus.

EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years relevant experience in a corporate legal department/law firm.

General knowledge of the administrative and litigation process Experience interviewing witnesses, preparing exhibits, and reviewing, drafting and writing position statements.

Previous experience with employment law a plus.

Experience in the consumer packaged goods industry a plus.

SKILLS:
A competent understanding of the basic elements, legal rules and requirements related to employment law.

General knowledge of the administrative, regulatory and litigation processes and judicial system as it relates to employment law.

Agile learner.
Ability to manage workflow with tight deadlines and shifting priorities with minimal oversight; self-manage projects and know when to seek advice.

General knowledge of procedures and rules governing discovery and service of process.

Willingness to adapt and be open to change in order to achieve desired results.

Strong verbal, written and communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) and Westlaw or similar on-line research tool.

Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; ability to analyze data; find efficient and effective solutions.
