We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Development Assistant at our Headquarters located in New York, NY.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working to assure the overall success of the Development and Communications Department. This full-time position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks including assistance on special events; data entry and data integrity of donor database Raiser’s Edge; and preparing and managing all strategic donor research projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Special Events

  • Assist with planning, coordination, and executing all aspects of special events, including outreach to vendors, gift solicitations, and more
  • Maintain and update event guest lists and assist with stewarding stakeholders

Database Management

  • Manage gift processing including the printing, sending, and tracking of all gifts and invoices in a timely fashion
  • Conduct data entry and maintain data integrity for Raiser’s Edge database

Prospect Research and Development Department General Support

  • Conduct strategic research projects using various research tools and resources with the goal of identifying new prospects for Madison, including Individuals, Corporations, and Foundations
  • Evaluate information to establish and reevaluate gift capacity ratings and identify existing connections
  • Assist with website maintenance and management of communications calendars
  • Manage special mailings
  • Participate in department and organizational work teams and projects, as needed.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • One year of experience in nonprofit preferred.
  • Skilled at working with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, mission-focused nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team showing both strong initiatives to reach individual goals as well as supports the overall team goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with club staff, board members, volunteers, community groups and third-party representatives.
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge and Microsoft Office Suite a plus.
