Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly seniors and those with special needs. This role requires a blend of practical skills and emotional intelligence, ensuring that clients receive the highest level of care and attention.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, and bathing needs.
- Provide support with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
- Monitor patient health by observing changes in condition and reporting any concerns to healthcare professionals.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring that living spaces are tidy and organized.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to clients, fostering a trusting relationship.
- Provide direct support for individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities as needed.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding when required.
- Document care provided and any changes in client status accurately.
Skills
- Experience in memory care or long-term care settings is preferred.
- Proficiency in first aid techniques to respond effectively in emergencies.
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in health or behavior promptly.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while assisting clients with mobility needs.
- Familiarity with senior care practices and the unique needs of elderly individuals.
- Compassionate demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with clients and families.
- Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum is a plus.
