We are seeking an Merchandise Planner to drive a best-in-class shopping experience for our customers and industry-leading sales growth for our business. In this role you will own and execute inventory planning and management for one of our product lines. You will be responsible for delivering financial results (sales, margin, inventory turnover) by ensuring we allocate inventory dollars efficiently based on sales trends and you'll work closely with buying, operations, and other internal teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience with inventory planning processes and tools (category/assortment planning, open-to-buy, re-orders, clearance/markdowns, etc.) in an apparel business, outstanding quantitative skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with and manage execution across multiple teams, and experience managing inventory in apparel or another high-SKU category with size or color variations. In addition, a passion for fashion and a strong customer focus is important in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Executing inventory planning processes including category/assortment planning, open-to-buy, re-orders, clearance/markdowns, etc.
  • Driving revenue growth by ensuring inventory dollars are allocated efficiently based on sales trends; improving inventory turnover
  • Recaping and analyzing actual sales results and variances to plan on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Supporting the buying teams with weekly and ad-hoc merchandise reporting, recaps, and analysis to identify and capitalize on product trends
  • Managing product lifecycle including new item planning, pricing and promotion management, markdown selection, execution, analysis, and reporting


  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field or 2-4 years of experience in apparel Merchandise Planning
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; demonstrated experience gathering and manipulating data to answer questions and solve problems
  • Comfort with ambiguity and passion/excitement for building new tools and processes
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, vlookups, logical formulas, and macros
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Independent and self-motivated problem solver

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in retail merchandise planning, preferably in apparel or another high-SKU count category with size or color variations
  • Experience using merchandise planning tools and processes such as category/assortment planning, re-orders, clearance markdowns, and open to buy
  • Proficiency in retail math
  • Prior experience in a start-up organization, preferably in e-commerce
  • Passion for and experience in the fashion industry
