As the Administrative Support Assistant, you will:
Establish control measures, monitor, track, and adjust obligations and expenditures throughout the budget execution phase, identify discrepancies and take corrective action.
Process various transactions and review financial documents in automated financial system and recommend improvements to budgetary operations.
Purchase supplies and equipment using Department of the Interior integrated charge card program, maintain receipts, verify transactions, and reconcile charge card statement and assist employees on submission of purchase requests.
Assist with travel arrangements, travel issues, review of travel records, and preparation of travel documents in automated travel system.
Instruction Memorandums and Information Bulletins; process daily incoming and out-going mail; maintain and monitor inventory and usage of official forms.
Maintain various files and reference information in the central filing system to track items due for response to the Washington Office or other officials.
Prepare, edit, and finalize correspondence for supervisors and managers; distribute, track and maintain issued correspondence.
Serve as initial point of contact for the public and other government officials on behalf of the state director both orally and in writing; respond to inquiries directly or refer individual to the appropriate staff members.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position for training or meetings.

To be eligible, an applicant must:
A Recent Graduate who has obtained a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous 2 years or other applicable period.
Other applicable period may include:
(1) Certain veterans precluded from applying within the timeframe described above due to a military service obligation, shall have a full 2-year period of eligibility upon his/her release or discharge from active duty. However, in no event, may the individual's eligibility period extend beyond 6 years from the date on which the individual completed the requirements of an academic course of study; and (2) Applicants who completed their educational program requirements after December 27, 2010 will have a full 2 years of eligibility beginning on the date the final regulations became effective, July 10, 2012.
Specialized Experience Requirements:
You must show that you have one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level (GS-05). Examples: Maintaining files, processing mail, generating and reviewing correspondence, providing appropriate guidance and training to staff regarding travel matters and personnel issues; and preparing/processing office requisitions.

This is an excepted service, developmental experience appointment expected to last only 1 year under the BLM Pathways Recent Graduates Program. S. citizen to a term or permanent appointment in the competitive service, as long as the Recent Graduate successfully completes the BLM's 1 year developmental program and meets the OPM Qualification Standards for the targeted occupational series.
