Our inclusive and transformative community seeks a College Access & Alumni Support Coordinator for an immediate start.

Objective: The College Access & Alumni Support Coordinator supports STRIVE Prep scholars and alumni on their journey to-and-through post-secondary education.

The College Access/ Alumni Support Coordinator serves as a hybrid team member and liaison between STRIVE Prep schools, alumni, and college institutions in order to track and support STRIVE Prep alumni as they transition to college.

In this role, the individual will split their time between two positions: 50% as the high school College Access Coordinator and 50% supporting alumni at the network level. The College Access & Alumni Support Coordinator works together with the Director of College Access (DCA) at STRIVE Prep - Excel and the network Alumni Support Manager (ASM) to build relationships with students at the high school level and on our eight targeted college campuses. The individual spearheads the development of STRIVE Prep’s peer-to-peer mentoring program as well as supporting college advising on the high school campus. The College Access & Alumni Support Coordinator supports each student’s successful journey towards college graduation.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Data Collection:
Update and maintain STRIVE Prep’s College Databases by inputting and tracking academics, matriculation and persistence information of all STRIVE Prep alumni in their first or second year in college (via Salesforce and Dashboard)
Work closely with the ASM to track, and support a designated cohort of alumni as they transition from STRIVE Prep into the alumni program through their chosen post-secondary path
Work closely with the DCA at STRIVE Prep- Excel to track and advise students through the college application process
Compile and analyze alumni outcomes to identify and report progress, obstacles, and trends to key stakeholders
Partner with key external stakeholders to identify, build and implement pre-college opportunities that will support students’ development of skills and passions through internships, work/job shadow experiences
Research and stay current on higher education programs, trends and issues with student impact and make recommendations based on best practices and research
Event planning
Develop and manage the Alumni Peer Mentoring program at targeted universities to increase alumni support and engagement
Plan, coordinate and provide logistical support for Alumni events
Support STRIVE Prep Excel’s college access events (i.e. Financial aid workshops, Junior and Senior family event)
Alumni support services
Cultivate relationships with key individuals at colleges (ex. admissions office, financial aid office, student supportive services) to promote alumni success by supporting college transition, persistence, and retention
Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, community organizations, university personnel, local businesses, and key stakeholders to increase resources and support
Research, compile and maintain summer opportunities database (programs, internships, etc.) and scholarship database.
College Access support services
Conduct one on one meetings with juniors and seniors focused on college and career advising
Support with college research and application process, personal statements, letters of recommendation, flyout programs, FAFSA support, and scholarship applications, and track student completion
Support Junior and Senior seminar courses
Support and attend STRIVE Prep Excel’s Junior College Trip
Alumni communication
Maintain monthly communication with a cohort of STRIVE Prep graduates via email, social media websites, phone, and in-person meetings to track their progress through higher education and beyond

HS Students support services:
Attend STRIVE Prep Excel’s senior seminar classes to develop relationships with soon-to-be transitioning alumni
Communicate regularly and often with families (by phone and/or home visits) to both solicit their input and share student social and academic progress.

Attend and participate in weekly 1:1 coaching sessions and quarterly all team staff meetings
Participate in regular personal development training to better support scholars
Participate in STRIVE Prep’s Summer Training Institute as well as professional development throughout the school year.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Two years of college access/ higher education advising experience

We’re looking for someone who has:
Experience working with youth, especially those who are traditionally underserved, and demonstrated a passion for helping students succeed
Proactive problem solver who demonstrates initiative and ability to work individually and on a team
Experience coordinating programming in areas of post-secondary education
Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective relationships with students, parents, community professionals, and college personnel
Strong interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to members from varying
educational, cultural and social backgrounds.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Experience working collaboratively with diverse communities.
Commitment to the belief that all students can learn and to the mission of educational equity
Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
Passionate about improving public education to help all children reach their dreams
Ability to manage an online data information system; comfort with data analysis
A sense of humor, tolerance for change, and a demonstrated ability to create a positive culture and sense of empowerment for students/families
Ability to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders, ranging from high school students to board members and college representatives
