Are you looking for a seasonal position and enjoy working outdoors? Consider applying to become a Parks Worker in either the Parks and Recreation or Public Works departments. These are seasonal, temporary positions that may work part-time or full-time hours and are limited to a maximum of 1040 hours within one year. There are no benefits for these positions.

Light labor job assisting in the maintenance of park grounds and buildings.
Other duties as assigned.
Public Works (Must be at least 17 years old.)
Mow and weed whip grass on boulevards, center islands, and banks in and along roadways.
Pick up trash and litter on roadways and sidewalks in the downtown area.
Assemble signs, clean equipment, and haul brush and debris.
Other duties as assigned.
Hourly Rates of Pay:
Parks Worker I (all positions, except those in Operations and Como Park Zoo and Conservatory)
1st 500 hours = $12.12
2nd 500 hours = $13.06
3rd 500 hours = $13.94
4th 500+ hours = $14.84

1-499 hours = $13.06
500 - 1499 hours = $13.94
1500+ hours = $14.84

You must meet both the age and driver's license requirements:
Must be at least 16 years old by date of hire (for some positions in Parks and Recreation).
Applicants for Parks Worker I in the Public Works Department must be at least 17 years old by date of hire.
Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license, or equivalent out-of-state license. The driver's license must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses within a one year period prior to the date of appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded. A provisional driver's license (without restrictions) may be accepted for some positions.
Applicants selected for this position must be available to work flexible hours when needed, weekends included.
Ability to work in all weather and temperature conditions.
