SCHEDULE-Part time-24 hours week, every other weekend
The clinical social worker will provide psychosocial assessments and interventions for patients and their families in the Emergency Department. The social worker must be able to intervene using best clinical practice regarding a medical crisis, trauma, concern for abuse/neglect and filing mandated reports when indicated, assess for and provide treatment planning for substance use disorders (familiarity with Section 35 process and other treatment modalities and resources), assess for and provide problem solving regarding barriers to discharge from the ED as well as barriers to inpatient admission when indicated, and collaborate with community resources and agencies to expedite patient care needs.
As member of interdisciplinary team, will collaborate with MD, RN, RNCM, and all other disciplines involved with the patients’ care. Will participate in daily huddles regarding patients’ medical and psychosocial needs and will remain available to ED staff for social work consultation as indicated.

Education: Master’s of Social Work Degree from accredited Social Work program required
Licensure: Current Massachusetts Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required
Experience: Previous clinical social work experience in a hospital setting preferred, but will consider other settings that required similar social work skills necessary for this position
Competencies: Clinical experience and comfort working with patients of all ages and medical concerns, diverse cultures, abuse, neglect, violence, trauma, grief, loss, bereavement, substance use, complex family dynamics, and ability to support staff managing the same patient and family challenges.
Position reports to Social Work Manager for Inpatient Medicine, Surgery, Addiction, and ED.
