The Company

Great American is a 35 year-old, privately held business-to-business catalog company. Great American serves customers in 2 principal markets with 6 catalog titles and other direct mail. The company has a unique culture with open communications, a highly collaborative team-based organization, and very few layers of management. There are currently 65 employees.

The Opportunity

Great American is adding a buyer to the purchasing team. In keeping with our philosophy of outstanding service, we are seeking an outstanding person to help the purchasing team.

The Position Buyer – Reports to Purchasing Manager.

Major Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for data analysis of inventory levels, product life cycle trends, and evaluating bid proposals. Intermediate to advanced excel skill are required to be effective in this position. You will also research new products such as printing, promotional products, & metal fabrication. Daily task will also include processing purchase orders, expediting, reports, & answering all product related questions. Occasional overseas travel required.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Product and industry research
  • Purchase order follow up
  • Prepare and execute purchase orders and bid request
  • Manage inventory levels for products assigned
  • Expedite delivery of goods as needed
  • Ability to travel overseas
  • Approve invoices for payment
  • QC product as needed

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Data analysis capabilities
  • Detail orientated
  • Self-starter
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills (testing required)
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem solver
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent PC skills (We are a Microsoft Office environment)
  • Comfortable with change

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $45,000.00 to $50,000.00 /year
