Segment Overview

People in our Thermal segment are in the prevention business. We know that catastrophic events – such as frozen pipes, liquid leaks and train derailments – can alter lives and damage the success of companies involved.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work to manage and improve upon nVent's Thermal Management’s market position within the USA-North Region (direct sales offices in the Philadelphia mand Chicago metro areas. He/she will achieve financial growth by accomplishing short-term business goals, defining long-term business goals, managing all aspects of the company’s business within those two direct office regions (i.e. Sales, Proposals & Estimating, Engineering & Design, Project/Construction Management, etc.), building key customer relationships, identifying strategic business/project opportunities, negotiating and closing business deals and maintaining an extensive knowledge of TM’s business, its customer’s business and the current market conditions.

The Senior Sales Manager will work in a senior management, sales and business development position within the company, working with the regional (i.e. USA-LAM) sales and project services teams, marketing staff and other functional/business managers to increase project/product sales opportunities, successfully execute projects and thereby maximize revenue for the organization.

The specific roles & responsibilities of the Senior Sales Manager can be broken down into these main categories:

Lead the Philadelphia and Chicago based direct offices with respect to Sales, Proposals & Estimating, Engineering & Design, Project/Construction Management, and General Management responsibilities.
Develop and grow future talent throughout those direct offices, establishing professional development/growth plans for key personnel, as well as establishing and maintaining succession plans and talent profiles for same.
Working with the respective Regional Sales & Operations Leadership Teams to establish, drive, manage and be accountable for region-specific growth strategies/plans that leverage and drive additional business in to TM.
Drive fiscal and associated Annual Operating Plan targets as required.
Job Requirements & Skills

Qualifications and Education Requirements

This individual will be required to have the following qualifications and education requirements:

As a minimum, a 4-year or equivalent degree in a technical and/or closely associated field
10+ years of General Management, Sales and/or Business Development experience; with specific focus on the industrial sector
5+ years of Project Management or Project-related (i.e. execution) experience
Professional Certifications are a plus (i.e. P.Eng., PE, PMP, etc.)
An MBA or equivalent post-graduate degree is a plus
Preferred Skills

This individual will be required to have the following core competencies, either through previous work experience, through education and/or through dedicated trainings:

Technical Knowledge: Have a practical knowledge of electrical engineering, instrumentation/analyzers, supplemental heating, control/monitoring, process engineering, insulation and materials science
Product Knowledge: Have a practical knowledge of heat tracing, controls/monitoring and insulation
Engineering Knowledge: Have a practical knowledge of the engineering process within the Petrochemical & Refining industry
Construction Industry Knowledge: Have a practical knowledge of project and construction management, safety management and contract management
Customer Knowledge: Have an intimate knowledge of specific Key Accounts within the appointed Region
Market Knowledge: Have an intimate knowledge of the Hydrocarbon Processing Industry (HPI), Pulp & Paper Industry, Power Generation & Utility Industry, etc.
Solution Selling Knowledge: Have an intimate knowledge of the techniques and tools relative to Solution Selling
Communication Skills: Strong skills in verbal and written communication, as well as in presenting solution to Customers
Organizational Skills: Strong Account Management and time management skills
Professionalism: Always conduct oneself in a professional manner, with a strong work ethic
Additional Notes

This individual will report directly to the Vice President & General Manager of the USA-LAM Region for Thermal Management’s Industrial Heating Solutions division.
