Tennessee Pathways Regional Coordinator

Tennessee Pathways Regional Coordinators will provide technical assistance to regional Pathways Initiatives working to ensure that there is structural alignment between K-12 schools, post-secondary institutions, and employers. The goal of this structural alignment work is to expand student access to post-secondary, earning a degree or credential, and find high-quality employment. Creating structural alignment will require strong networking between K-12, post-secondary, and industry and a constant, careful analysis of student data to guide the work in the region and smaller district consortia.

Responsibilities:

Facilitating regional collaborative of K-12, post-secondary, and employers to promote cross-sector collaboration and sharing of promising practices by coordinating and leading meetings between K-12 administrators, post-secondary administrators, and regional labor and economic development boards;

Identifying smaller consortia within the region that have at least one school district, one post-secondary partner, and one industry partner to develop or expand quality pathways for students;

Identifying, initiating, and sustaining partnerships, negotiating partnership terms, and maintaining partnerships between K-12, higher education, and employers that expand EPSOs and work-based learning opportunities for all students;

Coordinating regional efforts and opportunities with appropriate regional directors/personnel from partner state agencies such as labor & workforce development, economic & community development, THEC, etc.;

Advocate for support and resources on behalf of smaller, less-resourced districts at the regional and state levels;

Facilitating strategic planning, goal setting, and progress monitoring of metrics and goals aligned to the Tennessee Pathways certification and designation;

Developing and executing strong communication systems to ensure that regional and school-level leaders have the knowledge, tools, and information to certify their student pathways as Tennessee Pathways and help their district earn the Pathways designation;

Engaging CTE Core Consultants and other members of the department as needed in order to support local implementation of Tennessee Pathways and to ensure strong coordination between local Pathways stakeholders and district educators;

Planning and coordinating visits for key leaders in the region to showcase promising practices within school districts, post-secondary institutions, and industry partners;

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

In-depth knowledge of K-12 accountability systems not limited to, but including the Ready Graduate Indicator;

In depth knowledge of Tennessee Promise, Tennessee Reconnect, and the Drive to 55;

In depth knowledge of the higher education landscape and opportunities for students in Tennessee;

A willingness to do whatever possible to break down barriers to post-secondary access and completion for all students;

A strong communicator with the ability to understand and respond to multiple stakeholder needs and requests;

A desire to make new connections between employers and education to create new and expanded college and career experiences for all students;

Strong writing and public speaking skills;

Ability to work as part of a team and as alone in daily work;

Ability to effectively analyze data and inquiries, think critically, and make appropriate decisions;

Effective organizational and time management skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in education, public policy, business administration or related area

Preferred Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience as a K-12 teacher or in education and workforce development initiatives is preferred;

Master’s degree in education, public policy, business administration, or related area is preferred
