The primary purpose of this position is to develop and direct clinical programs and initiatives for the Division of Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences by identifying implementation strategies that enhance clinical collaboration and interaction between faculty and departments, facilitating clinical initiatives initiated by the Division Head, Department Chairs and Division Administrator; and acting as a liaison for the Division with clinical providers, institutional officials, and other internal and external stakeholders. The position works strategically with the Division Head, Department Chairs, Division Administrator, Clinical Medical Director, Clinical Administrative Director, Ambulatory Operations, and Integrated Health Staff for example.
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
CLINICAL PREVENTIVE SERVICES PLANNING and DEVELOPMENT
- Direct prevention clinical initiative planning and development for new and expanded opportunities arising from MD Anderson's strategic plan and, specifically, the Reach component of the plan.
Lead development and feasibility assessment of clinical preventive services strategies to expand clinical preventive service lines within MD Anderson (including Houston Area Locations), to Cancer Network partners and members, Corporate Alliance, UT institution clinical practices and through Employer Direct programs.
- Implements clinical initiatives in complex environments
- Lead strategic institutional plans such as UT affiliation, Clinical Implementation Science and Quality Improvement activities
- Create operational business plans to support priority clinical preventive services expansion strategies to include definition of evaluation metrics.
- Collaborate with leaders across the institution including faculty leadership to identify clinical preventive services opportunities and prioritize these (e.g., Health Index)
- Develop operations plans for clinical preventive services programs selected for expansion
- Lead and manage projects at multiple levels, including as the accountable project manager, working across the institution with senior leaders and peers and with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Apply quality improvement and implementation science expertise appropriately to enhance the likelihood of success for new and expanded clinical prevention initiatives
- Lead clinical preventive services operations for the Integrated Health Initiative to include service development, evaluation and sustainability
- Streamline Integrative Health clinical services operations and help improve service delivery efficiencies within the Cancer Prevention Center (CPC) in concert with Ambulatory Operations and CPC leadership
- Identify and communicate clinical preventive services opportunities to faculty.
- Serve as an expert resource for faculty and staff with regard to all clinical preventive services operations-related issues.
- Advise and serve as a liaison to various institutional workgroups as a representative of the VP/Division Head/Division Administrator
- Serve as a resource and mentor for staff that are tasked with managing clinical operations activities.
CLINICAL PREVENTIVE SERVICES MARKETING:
- Guides operational changes in alignment with institutional financial goals
- Plans, organizes and directs all activities related to financial management including financial planning, budgeting input with the Division leadership
WRITING and REPORTING:
- Develop, coordinate and execute marketing activities related to Cancer Prevention clinical services and Cancer Prevention messaging in collaboration with Strategic Communications (Marketing, CRE), Referral Relations, Patient Education, Development Office & Corporate Alliances and Strategic Ventures.
HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT:
- Design, prepare and maintain reports and budgets to support clinical preventive services operations and related programmatic initiatives.
- Create supporting tools and templates to collect data to support reporting
- Provide analyses of clinical preventive services programmatic initiatives and make recommendations for improvements.
- Develop and maintain the capability to describe the division clinical portfolio across multiple parameters and conduct periodic analyses of this portfolio to identify opportunities to enhance the reach and impact of clinical preventive services.
- Supervise if needed and carry out, in collaboration with the Clinic Medical Director and Division Administrative leadership, the human resource related functions for any direct reports.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, healthcare administration or related field.
Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration or related field.
Five years project/program management experience to include three years supervisory experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate program may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience.
Experience in a leadership role preferably in an academic medical center or hospital environment in oncology services; to include direct experience in developing, coordinating and promoting operations.
ACHE or PMP.
