Job Summary:
The Gardener 3 position is a supervisory position and is responsible for participating in landscape installation and plant maintenance: knowledge of soils, plants, irrigation systems and equipment operation.

Education & Experience:

Training or experience in horticulture/landscaping preferred.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Must complete WPS training.

Long hours are sometimes required.

Potentially hard physical labor, lifting 50 pounds occasionally, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects.
- Ability to stand, squat and/or kneel for long periods of time.

Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.

Ability to operate small tools, lawn and gardening equipment.

Ability to operate heavy equipment preferred.

Duties and Functions:

Interacts with all guests and all team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

Maintains regular attendance in compliance with Callaway Gardens' standards, as required by scheduling that will vary according to the needs of Callaway Gardens' business levels to include some holidays and weekends.

Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming to include wearing a nametag when working.

Complies with Callaway standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Keeps accurate records to include pesticide application logs.

Reports needs for materials and equipment to manager.

Maintains inventory of small tools and supplies.

Maintains the horticultural standards of Callaway Gardens with a sense of urgency and focus with attention to detail in an efficient and productive manner.

Practices proper horticultural techniques to include planting, watering, weeding, pruning, pest control, dead heading, and plant identification.

Operates and instructs others in the operation of all equipment pertaining to their specific job.
- Ensures all equipment is properly maintained.
- Prioritizes daily tasks and weekly projects with direction from department manager or supervisor.

Trains others in proper horticultural techniques.

Ability to work with little or no supervision.

Attend all meetings/training as required by supervisor or manager.
