Summary
This is an opportunity to join Breakthrough T1D’s Upstate New York Chapter and play a vital role in the organization’s success to raise funds needed to improve the lives of every person affected by Type I Diabetes (T1D) by accelerating progress of the most promising opportunities for curing, better treating, and preventing the disease. The Upstate NY Chapter consists of a staff team of six (6), two Chapter Board of Directors (Syracuse and Albany), and volunteer committees in Buffalo and Rochester who are actively engaged and passionate supporters of Breakthrough T1D.
As a member of the Upstate NY Chapter team, this position’s primary responsibilities will be to support Signature Events. This includes Soirees/Galas and Golf Tournaments. These events deliver $1.3M towards the Chapter’s overall fundraising goal of $3.1M. The Development Coordinator assists with logistical planning, auction support and has a low-level Fund-A-Cure donor and Sponsor portfolio.
This position is remote, however, the coordinator must reside within the Chapter territory, which spans Albany, Syracuse, Utica, Rochester, Buffalo and the Southern Tier. Greater Syracuse area is preferred.
Responsibilities

Performs duties for signature event fundraising activities including event logistics (pre & day of), auction solicitation & procurement, collateral design, website and social media planning and implementation, and preparing information needed for meetings when applicable.

Ensures timely and accurate daily usage of CRM Salesforce and Greater Giving to document activities with donors and volunteers.

Participates in solicitations under the direction of the Development Director and in collaboration with other members of the Chapter’s management team.

Understands, supports and maintains the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of Breakthrough T1D. Understands the strategic direction and purpose of the organization and supports the Chapter’s fundraising strategies and business needs.

Works in collaboration with Chapter staff and volunteers across the Chapter area.

Accountable for meeting deadlines, responding to staff and volunteers, and other department requests.

Supports other fundraising events, chapter activities, and programs as assigned.
Qualifications

2+ years of fundraising and volunteer engagement experience or relevant experience.

College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Event planning experience preferred.

Experience with platforms to design and market event collateral materials (WordPress) preferred.

Must be a self-starter while also being collaborative, a quick learner and an amazing team player.

Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Active listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Effectively multi-task, establish priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment. Highly efficient in time management and can meet deadlines under pressure. Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint) and databases.

Familiarity with CRM Salesforce and Greater Giving preferred.

Knowledge of administrative procedures as well as ability to develop presentations, reports, and business correspondence.

Ability to interface with all levels of staff and volunteers.

Ability to demonstrate flexibility and an ‘all hands-on deck’ demeanor.

Ability to travel within the chapter footprint required. Occasional evening and weekend work required as needed.
Targeted Salary Range is $45 - $50K
