Position Summary
Oversee and coordinate recreational or educational activities for assigned community centers within the Family & Community Services Department; implement program goals and objectives and perform a variety of administrative tasks in support of assigned area of responsibility.

This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

Associate's degree in recreation or related field, plus three (3) years of recreation activities coordination experience to include one (1) year technical lead or supervisory experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Preferred Knowledge
Basic operations, services and activities of community recreation program
Operational characteristics of a community center
Principles and practices of recreation program development and implementation
Basic procedures, methods and techniques of budget preparation and control
Recent developments, current literature and information related to community recreation services
Marketing theories, principles and practices and their application to community recreation programs
Office equipment including computers
Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and safety regulations
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Coordinate and direct recreational programs at an assigned community center
Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing recreational services
Elicit community and organizational support for recreational programs
Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
Prepare and administer recreational program budgets
Allocate limited resources in a cost effective manner
Communicate clearly and concisely
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including the general public
