This position is responsible for designing mechanical and electromechanical assemblies of high precision internal diameter (ID), external diameter (OD), and combination (ID/OD) grinding machines, including automation.

The requirements for this position are as follows:
EDUCATION:
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering required.

EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in designing complex mechanical and electromechanical assemblies for machines, preferable machine tools, required. Demonstrated competency in 2D CAD required. Experience with common manufacturing materials and machining processes required. Ability to take both written and verbal instructions. Strong oral and written communication skills required. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of professional demeanor and discretion in handling of confidential information. Ability to work efficiently with a team of design and project engineers required. Must have experience as lead mechanical engineer.

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
Experience with fluids, such as pneumatics and hydraulics, with an understanding of their applications and basic components
Knowledge of an ECO/ECN process with design submission and review
Experience with PDM vault environments to manage files and workflow
Experience contributing and maintaining BOM’s in ERP systems
Demonstrated proficiency in 3D CAD, preferable Solidworks

LOCATION: Elgin, Illinois

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use 3D Solidworks CAD for detailed machine designs and concept layouts
Develop mechanical and electromechanical assemblies based on project requirements
Assure design feasibility and quality
Check for interferences and perform simulations using 3D CAD software
Evaluate mechanical and electromechanical systems and components by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluids through analysis using available software
Provide engineering support to customers, vendors, and sales teams for prospective project
