The aging population continues to grow and with that growth comes the increased need for assistance-but without an increase in funding to provide those services. One way to counter these increased costs is through a strong volunteer program. Catholic Charities Aging and Disability Services Division has several programs that utilize volunteers to provide services to the community: Money Management, Long Term Care Ombudsman, Telephone Reassurance, Nutrition and Evidence Based Healthy Aging Programs. Several evidence based programs are offered at this time, including Healthy Ideas, A Matter of Balance, Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (Live Well, Be Well), and Diabetic Chronic Disease Self-Management Program. Each of these programs have minimal staff available to provide the community outreach and volunteer recruitment needed to meet the increased need for assistance in the Agency's large service area.
