Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and working with students who have unique learning needs like Dyslexia and ADHD. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students and their families and make a very good living, median hourly earnings are $60 per hour.
About ExcelOS:
ExcelOS is a marketplace where teachers are empowered to be business owners and teach k-12 students with learning difficulties and disabilities (Dyslexia and ADHD). Courses are all taught in a live class environment on a wide range of topics both academic and non-academic. We encourage teachers to teach topics they are passionate about. Some examples for courses are
- Double digit addition and subtraction
- Backyard gardening
- Stress management through singing and whistling
- How to survive your parents divorce
- Human biology through burps and farts
- How to be a successful YouTuber
- Reading for young minds
The possibilities for teaching fun and meaningful courses, workshops and skill based projects are endless. Enrich students lives with topics and skills they are passionate about.
Responsibilities
You are responsible for
- Determining and creating the course content and curriculum that you want to teach live
- Determining total number of students required for enrolment in your course
- Determining time availability and price per course and price per class (for drop ins)
- Utilizing accessibility tools (available on the website) as required by the students
- Updating course content, teaching schedules and availability as required
- Ensuring students and parents have all their communication and education needs met through you by identifying causes of concern
Qualification and Approval
To Qualify for teaching on ExcelOS you must register on https://excelos.co/instructor-registration/ and provide a government provided ID and a small demo video of what you want to teach. We typically approve or reject an application to teach within 48 hours. When submitting your demo video, please include how long your course will be (number of classes taught in a course as well as duration of each class, for example, 4 classes where each class will be 40 mins long), how many people will be involved, what will you be teaching, how many students do you want to enrol and what age. - Ideal candidates have a minimum 1 year experience in teaching k-12 students in a school environment.
- Have experience (personal or otherwise) with learning disabilities such as Dyslexia and ADHD
- Understand what a learning disability is and how to best manage it
- Be able to use computers sufficiently enough to teach online and manage class schedules
- Have excellent verbal and communication skills
- Be fluent in English
Compensation
This is not a salaried job position and does not carry a fixed pay. You are free to host a course on ExcelOS. We only charge you when you are paid by the students. Our fee is 30%. This fee covers various aspects of running our platform including but not limited to marketing and development.
Median hourly earnings are $60 per hour, which you can withdraw as soon as funds are available for withdrawal. We do not hold on to funds and we do not have any limitations on minimum amounts for withdrawal. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email us at [email protected]
