As a host or hostess, you will be the first point of contact for guests visiting The Tomato House, providing administrative and logistic support to the rest of the FOH staff throughout the service. You will handle the flow of people through the restaurant and ensure that all hosting responsibilities are completed accurately and delivered with the southern hospitality and quality that has come to be expected from The Tomato House. Potential for cross-training and/or full-time opportunities for the right candidate.
Serve visitors by greeting, welcoming, and seating them
Answer, screen, and forward any incoming phone calls while providing basic information when needed. Taking reservations and waitlist names as availability allows
Update reservations and visit notes, keeping relevant staff informed of changes
Perform other administrative and logistic duties such as table assignments, menu inventory, organizing host stand, etc.
Completing Opening and Closing Checklist duties for every shift
Assist Serving Staff with clearing and resetting tables as necessary
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Proven working experience in a front office handling administrative responsibilities (preferred)
Experience with OpenTable reservation system (preferred)
Charismatic and welcoming personality
Neat and professional appearance
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with any guest issues that may arise
Ability to organize, multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure
Willingness to learn and work as a team
High school degree or equivalent
