The successful candidate will drive proactive and reactive communications around issues including content, influencer marketing and branded content, privacy, legal and regulatory, and security.
Candidates must be clear thinkers, with an excellent understanding of business and technology environments. The ability to stay calm under pressure is a must, as is a deep understanding of Instagram and our community. Candidates should excel at project management and problem solving while working collaboratively with executives and other stakeholders.
This position is based in San Francisco or Menlo Park, California.

Manage in-bound press inquiries on a range of time-sensitive issues with high stakes and visibility.
Develop and pitch stories to a variety of press, including business, policy, and consumer reporters.
Drive communication strategy around branded content and influencer marketing as it relates to businesses, creators and the community.
Work closely with Instagrams business & media team to create, refine and communicate product launches and policy changes.
Prepare messaging and other external materials such as blog posts, speeches, and videos.
Manage complex issues arising on Instagram related to the advertiser & business community.
Partner closely with leadership to create successful communications outcomes for interviews, panels, and other external engagements.
Work closely with Facebooks policy and business communications team to manage issues that impact the family of companies.
Represent Instagram communications regularly in a wide range of internal, high-impact discussions with cross-functional teams across the company.

Mininum Qualifications:
5+ years of experience managing press and stakeholder relations in a brand safety, public affairs, policy & crisis issues management or similar context
Experience distilling technology or policy concepts into language for non-expert audiences
Experience creating messaging materials, and working collaboratively with cross-functional groups including Product, Legal, Public Policy, and Business teams
Experience managing crisis communications situations independently and managing competing priorities
Experience thriving in a culture that involves cross-functional coordination and collaboration globally

Preferred Qualifications:
Media relationships with a range of reporters and bloggers
Experience with consumer and business communications around complex technology topics
Experience working at a Technology Company
