The Patient Care Supervisor is accountable and responsible during a scheduled shift for managing and guiding the activities of the hospital including, but not limited to, the staff, environment, and patients. Must be able to clinically participate in all components of the nursing process. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. The Patient Care Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Patient Care Services. And performs other duties as assigned.

- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed.
- Provides leadership and serves as a role model for staff.
- Performs unit and patient rounds on a continuous basis.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate changes in policy and procedures and other appropriate communication to staff.
- Demonstrates ability to participate in department planning, decision making and policy formation
- Communicates pertinent patient information to all health care team members and
demonstrates the ability to assist in the coordination of services with the medical staff, nursing staff and other departments as well as other providers. Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, ongoing competencies, equipment and certifications required in specific nursing area, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification every two years..
- Demonstrates ability to perform all technical skills required for each unit’s population by rendering professional nursing care including administering medications, starting IVs, venipuncture, restraint application.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills and uses professional judgement to respond promptly with intervention when clinical changes occur.

- Communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. Adheres to and promotes the established values of the organization, i.e. customer service, safety, infection, control and compliance standards.

follow up with staff, family, patients and physicians in an appropriate and timely manner.

- Demonstrates through, concise and timely documentation when following up on patient care, quality or staff issues.

Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of a recognized non-online RN program with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
required.
Work Experience:
Two to five years general nursing experience with demonstrated leadership required.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Current License with MS State Board of Nursing
