The Bay Area Discovery Museum (BADM) marketing and communications team is growing! The Marketing and Communications Associate will be a key member of a highly collaborative team that drives towards results. We are looking for someone who is passionate about marketing and communications, has a desire to learn, and is looking to grow their experience within a fast-moving nonprofit.
The Marketing and Communications Associate is a content creator who executes BADM’s social media (paid and organic) and video marketing strategies. You will work in a marketing and communications team that strives to grow awareness of the BADM brand, create a consistent consumer experience across all channels, increase earned revenue growth (daily admissions, membership, summer camp, and preschool admissions), and educate audiences about the importance of early creative and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) learning experiences.
Assist in development and execution of overall marketing and communication strategies, tactics, and campaigns to meet department goals and deliverables.
Serve as the main executor and driver of museum’s paid and organic social media and video marketing tactics.
Develop video and social media marketing (paid and organic) to grow awareness of BADM’s offerings, including on-site camps, school and community programs, research and advisory division, and on-site preschool.
Assist in the development of strategies to enhance social media (paid and organic) and video marketing.
Create, write, and produce engaging social media content, including photos, text, and video.
Create ads, build audiences, and set ad budgets for paid social media advertising.
Collect, track, report on, and analyze key social media marketing analytics.
Monitor and respond to customer service inquiries and issues on BADM’s social media channels and review-based sites.
Work closely with the with marketing and communications team to ensure alignment and consistency between social media, email, web, and on-site experiences.
Stay updated on industry news and conversations and work with the marketing and communications team to build a comprehensive content calendar used for external communications.
Work with the Communication Manager to ensure content fits brand tone/voice and reinforces brand positioning.
Create and maintain schedule of on-site advertising displays and signage.
Write copy for all on-site advertising and work with Graphic Designer to produce on-site advertising assets.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent academic training and professional experience in marketing, communications, and/or business.
Desire to learn and continuously improve.
1 – 4 years of experience in a social media focused marketing role.
Experience with Facebook Ads Manager.
Basic photography and design and layout skills in Adobe Creative Suite.
Video editing/production experience with Adobe Creative Cloud.
High-energy, positive personality with an appreciation for a fast-moving, agile organization.
Strong organizational skills with outstanding attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team and across departments.
Openness to constructive criticism and the ability to work as a team to produce the best results.
Commitment to the museum’s mission and interest in childhood development, creativity, parenting, and STEM knowledge.
Experience using web content management systems and basic understanding of HTML a plus.
