The Capability Lead for Integration takes end-to-end accountability for Integration services across AstraZeneca. The role is accountable for integration strategy, integration technology platforms and roadmaps, integration architecture and solution delivery to approved budget and time whilst ensuring high levels of quality and compliance. Focus areas include stakeholder management (varies by organization), risk management and delivery of business benefit. The role is also required to follow established project management standards and lead / contribute to continued development of the project / programme management capability.
The Capability Lead for Integration is responsible for one or more of the following integration specialization areas and is expected to have experience and/or exposure to the others.
Application Integration – API’s and API management, application-to-application and business-to-business using services oriented architecture (SOA), Micro-Services and other integration capabilities such as Managed File Transfer, B2B, EDI integration.
Integration Security and Governance – Authentication, Identification, Gateway and Security Policies
This role is primarily focused on integration delivery through a supporting team of platform project managers, architects, engineers and developers and third party suppliers, in support of customer facing projects and intiatives.
Candidate Focus & Challenge –
Oversee and approve plans for strategy, technology direction on integration, projects/programmes, including activities such as resources management, cost estimation, roles & responsibilities definition and adherence to quality as defined in the IT Project Management Methodology (AZ Adaptive Delivery Framework (ADF)).
Manage and coordinate integration project / Programme budgets, forecasts, tasks, schedules, risks, change management, and status to support effective decision making and project reporting to stakeholders and review boards.
Manage and coordinate interdependencies between projects and Programme workstreams (intra-program and across portfolio).
Drive effective risks & issues management, ensuring processes are in place and effectively used. Ensure problems resolved and escalate as appropriate.
Build a cohesive project /programme team and provide the leadership necessary to maximize the team’s success.
Own project /programme improvement plans and oversee execution of remediation plans.
Manage changes to project/programme scope, ensuring that all impacts and changes are approved and appropriately communicated to stakeholders and review boards.
Ensure /develop service transition plans including controlled hand-over into support and maintenance.
Ensure the project team adheres to all standards including IS PDM, quality, and compliance, as well as processes, defined technical capabilities, and best practices. Establish program governance and lead Decision Point reviews; member Steering Committee meetings.
Ensure expected benefits realization is consistent with project deliverables and clearly understood by stakeholders and project team.
Support / lead development of a world-class centre of excellence for integration capabilities and ensure that best practice is adopted and reinforced.
Typical project / Programme costs greater than $1m, and a project team greater than 15 people.
Line management responsibility for a team of around 10-12 resources and oversight of department.
Works collaboratively with:
Solution Delivery Center program, project managers, architects and End-to-end capability service managers to manage delivery of medium – large sized projects IT Customer Facing functions to manage delivery of small projects and service enhancement requests
Technology Services and Infrastructure/Operations functions to introduce, adopt, implement and institutionalize integration technologies Suppliers to ensure delivery of agreed products and services while ensuring adherence to AZ project delivery standards
Key business stakeholders to ensure the effective capturing of business requirements and commitment to project/programme objectives Technology vendors to ensure licensing, support and maintenance contracts are managed effectively against roadmaps and technology decisions
Candidate Knowledge, Skills & Experience -
Experience of progressive application development, system administrative or system engineering experience in one or more of the integration capability areas
Prior experience in managing global distributed teams across geographical locations, organization size of 60.
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Technical or Business Degree
Proven skills and experience managing and controlling large project and programme budgets
Excellent communication and relationship management skills
Experience managing and leading global project teams
Strong knowledge and experience with integration platforms and solutions such as
MuleSoft, API management gateways, B2B integrations, Micro Services, SOA principles
EDI integration and adapters
Managed File Transfer capabilities
Evidence of shaping innovative solutions that have a major impact within the business area and organisation
Excellent business acumen with sensitivity to environment
Experience working in a global organization where stakeholders and project team members are geographically dispersed.
Agile experience is required
Project / Programme Management certifications
Demonstrated leadership skills interacting with senior leaders
