ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Directs the activities of departmental employees in the implementation of programs and policies.
- Review’s progress and activity reports, assesses effectiveness of operations, and determines need for improvement.
- Selects and assigns staff, assuring equal opportunity in hiring, promotion, and other employment practices; identifies staff development needs and assures that training is obtained; assures that proper labor relations and conditions of employment are maintained.
- May assist mechanics with solving complex or unusual maintenance issues
- Provides work assignments, advice, and guidance to subordinates, and to observe and evaluate their job performance.
- Effectively communicates with others, both verbally and in writing.
- Prepares and/or supervises the preparation of reports and records of personal, equipment, materials, supplies, work performed, time spent, and costs.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge: Associate degree from an accredited college or university in an automotive technology related field or graduation from an accredited automotive institute strongly preferred. Additional related work experience may, at the sole discretion of the Company, be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing a maintenance department or service area required.
Skills: Must have well-refined verbal and written communications skills. Organization skills and self-directed work ethic are essential. Must be a strong communicator with effective listening skills. Able to prepare and present clear, concise, and accurate reports to members of management. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel programs is required.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: Must have the ability to work the hours and days required to complete the essential functions of the position, as scheduled. Vision, hearing, speech, and manual dexterity are required. A valid North Carolina CDL driver’s license is necessary. Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret general information concerning organizational needs and operations. Other normal office-related physical demands may be necessary.
Mental Demands: Must have the ability to listen, reason, think, concentrate, and interact with others. The ability to exercise self-control and work under stressful conditions is necessary, particularly in employee relations situations.
