Training Instructor - TAP Day Program for Adults with Disabilities

As a Training Instructor you will be working with adults with disabilities. You will support and teach skills that will influence self-advocacy and enhance life inter-personally and professionally, as applies. You will also be supervisory of work flow when available to our participants. Accurate recording of services performed by participants is extremely important for the sake of the participant and to keep us within compliance. You will be responsible for organizing and implementing activities in the community that support the curriculum and PCP. Ultimately, your ongoing goal is to ensure that each participant is provided a stable and encouraging environment in which they are able to explore their individual strengths as it relates to their personal goals for success.


  • Instruct developed curriculum to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
  • Understand and support the goals in each participant’s Person Centered Plan (PCP), particularly those relative to their day program; encourage and inspire participation in activities
  • Support, train and supervise participants in their daily assignments and endeavors; promote and support self-advocacy
  • Accurately track and record participant attendance; ensure assigned participants are accounted for at all times
  • Observe participant behaviors, track, and inform Program Coordinator of any changes
  • Ensure work training is completed and done in a timely manner
  • Participate in bus duty and ensure that participants board their assigned busses
  • Produce all required documentation (meaningful case notes, reports, assessments, etc.) in a neat, accurate, professional and timely manner
  • Advocate for services and supports that will enhance the quality of life for participants
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment in all facility and ground areas; always practice all safety measures
  • Use and maintain equipment, materials and customer products in a safe and conscientious manner
  • Meet all deadlines
  • Know Emergency Evacuation and Crisis Prevention Intervention procedures
  • Maintain positive relations with all stakeholders while professionally representing My Day Counts
  • Additional duties as assignedCLASSIFICATION: NON Exempt: C-3 REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma, or equivalent; minimal one year’s experience working with the adult disabled community; fluent and proficient in English, both reading and writing; proficient in basic computer skills and Microsoft programs; Lifting - must be able to lift at least 20 lbs., walking, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling
  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Pass a health screening; Clear a Department of Justice Fingerprint Livescan/background check; pass language skills assessment

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $12.00 to $14.00 /hour
