The purpose of this job is to provide a variety of specialized administrative and office support to the assigned department or office.
This job works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Provides general office administrative support as directed.
Performs routine office duties such as answering phones, disseminating messages, maintain conference/training room calendar, greeting and assisting the public, scheduling and coordinating meetings and data entry.
Responds to customers by providing routine information, answering questions and referring customers to appropriate resources.
Edits, formats and drafts documents (correspondence, department policy manual, department budget, charts etc.).
Creates and maintains specialized reports, records, and files required to that department’s work processes.
Maintains and orders office supplies.
Ability to multitask and attention to detail is needed.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by three (3) year of clerical or office experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is needed.
Any knowledge of NC General Statutes would be a plus.
Must be able to type 50 wpm with no errors.
Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Must be able to obtain and maintain certification from the State Bureau of Investigation, Division of Criminal Information (DCI) within 6 months of position.
Ability to become Notary Public.
