Art Gallery Assistant Intern

Part-time | Internship

Busy art gallery in the Lower East Side is currently looking for undergraduates, graduates or recent graduates to assist in the day to day running of an art gallery. We are looking for a team member who has an engaging, energetic, positive and collaborative spirit. This position would require the candidate to work closely with the gallery owner; be open minded and learn more about the front end and back end of the art gallery business.

Candidates must be:

  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Familiarity with Wordpress
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • 1 year of social media marketing experience
  • 1 year experience in sales and public relations
  • Ability to work with artwork and artists information
  • Ability to work week days or and weekends
  • Framing and Art Handling Skills

Responsibilities include

  • Approaching customers in a friendly, helpful and informative manner
  • Provide outstanding customer service
  • Creating artists collections and portfolios for sale
  • Assist with our PR and social media presence by creating web designs
  • Maintaining the social media calendar
  • Creating and growing content to post on accounts
  • Engaging with collectors and artists
  • Learning about the artists and gallery inventory
  • Additionally, the gallery offers training for Art Handling and Framing

Candidates should be familiar with the Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator), Google Drive, Excel, Artsy, WordPress and have excellent written communication skills

Currently we are looking for interns with weekday and weekend availability. Some evenings are required for opening receptions.

Must be willing to learn and commit to 18 hours a week for a period of three months.

This is an unpaid position, however, school credit can be arranged.
