Rochester Optical is updating and remodeling its retail location! We are looking to bring aboard additional staff to provide excellent customer service with its new equipment and facility coming 2020.

Position Summary: The Doctor of Optometry is responsible for providing complete eye care services including eye exams, contact lens fitting, and diagnosis of eye disease and vision disorders, while positively contributing to an environment that delivers excellent patient care.

Essential Job Functions:
Communicating with patients to get detailed case histories
Examining the eyes of patients of all ages to detect signs of injury, disease, abnormality or vision defects
Being aware of signs and symptoms of general health conditions (e.g. diabetes)
Examining eyes and fitting spectacles or contact lenses
Offering advice and reassurance about vision-related matters
Awareness of current product availability
Begin advising patients on products that best fit their vision needs
Writing referral communications to doctors
Undertaking continuing education and training (CET)
Liaison with sales representatives from vision care product suppliers
Prescribing medicines for people with eye conditions
Lead by example regarding interaction with patients and staff members
Support and maintain compliance with policies and processes for standards of care
Additional duties assigned

Education & Experience:
  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree plus pre-requisite undergraduate degree/courses
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Doctor of Optometry in a retail environment
  • Licensed to practice in the state of New York
