Student Health Services
Time Base/Hours/Units per Week
Full-time/40 hours per week.
Under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Health Services, the Registered Nurse III facilitates and/or assists in the development and implementation of nursing standards, policies, and procedures for Student Health Services. The incumbent serves as the Lead Triage nurse and oversees the operational flow and processes for the triage area. Performs routine patient care and assists physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician's assistants. Administers patient care according to SHS established protocols.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The Registered Nurse III must possess a more comprehensive understanding of nursing processes.
Ability to quickly learn related clinic procedures and handle equipment required for patient care in a Student Health Center.
Ability to make accurate observations and exercise correct judgment within the areas of assigned responsibility.
Must be able to follow detailed oral and written instructions, understand basic medical terminology, and regularly exercise good nursing practice.
Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues and coordinate with others.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Ability to create and maintain staff schedules.
Ability to assist health care providers with the delivery of health care services.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community.
Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible nursing experience required. Experience in Nursing supervision and leadership preferred. Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred.
Licenses / Certificates
Possess and maintain valid License as a Registered Nurse in the State of California and a valid CPR/AED certification.
