Position: Executive Director

Reporting Authority: Lake Charles Symphony Board of Directors

Position Status: Full-time

Education Background: Master’s degree preferred, but will accept Bachelor’s with 3-5 years work experience.

Communication skills: Required. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking experience.

Computer skills: Required. Competency in Microsoft Office Suite and Quickbooks Professional

Fund Development Experience: Required. Ability to identify new and retain current sponsors.

Grant Experience: Required. Must be capable of writing and executing grants and tracking grant funds.

Budgeting Skills: Required. Proficient in developing and manage budgets.

Job Description: Manage Lake Charles Symphony Concert Series with input from Board and committees.

Administrative Responsibilities: Oversee selection of programming. Secure musicians and performers and prepare contracts. Oversee planning and implementation of live performances.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities: Oversee staff and volunteer positions.

Policy Making Authority: Work with board to develop all policies for the Lake Charles Symphony.

Reporting Requirements: Report to the Lake Charles Symphony Board of Directors. Prepare reports with the Treasurer/Finance Committee for Finances and Grants. Prepare reports with Executive Committee for overall status.

Working Relationship Requirements: Lead, motivate and inspire volunteers. Maintain professional and congenial relationships among employees and work as a team. Cooperate with other arts and music organizations.

Budgeting Responsibilities: Prepare budget with input from Treasurer/Finance Committee. Raise funds to meet budget requirements, primarily by 1) seeking out and maintaining relationships with corporate sponsors, 2) writing grant proposals to secure grant funding, 3) overseeing membership campaign, and 4) cultivating and soliciting planned gifts for endowments.

Marketing and Fundraising Responsibilities: Oversee membership and fundraising campaigns. Oversee and maintain a marketing plan.
