Summary:
Under the general direction of the Chairman, Director and Manager of Radiology and with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgement, the Supervisor Nuclear Medicine is responsible for the overall supervision of the section and technical staff. Supervises and directs the Nuclear Medicine service Enforces departmental and Hospital policies and procedures. Makes appropriate staffing decisions, provides supervision for all assigned personnel. Performs assurance and carries out both QC and QA program for section. Advises on new equipment purchases, cost saving measures, safety programs, Joint Commission compliance Performs as Nuclear Medicine technologist. Assures that all NRC, DPH and DEEP requirements are met.
Responsibilities:
1. Administrative Functions Criteria A: Under direction of Department Chairman and Director and manager of Radiology, insures department policies and procedures and NRC, DPH and DEEP requirements are met Administrative Functions Criteria B: Investigates and corrects problems Administrative Functions Criteria C: Maintains section in good working order Administrative Functions Criteria D: Investigates unsatisfactory procedures or problems and makes recommendations for their solutions
2. Quality assurance and Quality control Criteria A: Performs quality control in order to provide improvement to patient care Quality assurance and Quality control Criteria B: Performs quality assurance to meet Joint Commission standards Quality assurance and Quality control Criteria C: Performs QC and QA for RIS, PACS for section Quality assurance and Quality control Criteria D: Performs and maintains records for QC procedures of equipment and QC
procedures for kit prepared radio-pharmaceuticals
3. Personnel and schedules Criteria A: Oversees activities of Nuclear Medicine
personnel and provides continuing education in order to meet OSHA, , Joint Commission, MQSA, DPH, DEEP and hospital policies. Personnel and schedules Criteria B: Completes daily, weekly, monthly and yearly technologist schedules Personnel and schedules Criteria C: Assure that all personnel abide by the policies and procedures as detailed in the Nuclear Medicine Procedure manual
4. PACS, RIS Criteria A: Supervises, advises and directs the technologists in the use of RIS, PACS Criteria B: Instructs in and demonstrates the use of RIS, PACS Criteria C: Conducts in-service educational and orientation programs
5. Supervision Criteria A: Resolves personnel conflicts, problems or grievances. Disciplines when necessary Supervision Criteria B: Supervises technologists in procedures Supervision Criteria C: Directs the daily activities of the section. Conducts annual staff evaluations. Attends Daily Huddles. Insures all network requirements (Healthstream courses, Licensure/Certifications, Basic Life-Support, Goals, Self-Evaluations, Flu Vaccination) are completed in a timely manner.
6. Records and documents: keeps and maintains records as follows Criteria A: Develops and maintains records to stay in compliance with hospital and departmental policies Records and documents,; keeps and maintains records as follows Criteria B: Develops and maintains records for Accreditation's, NRC, Joint Commission, DPH, DEEP, other department accreditation's. Records and documents; keeps and maintains records as follows Criteria C: Develops policies for and maintains Section Standard of Practice records and documents. Keeps and maintains records as follows Criteria D: Patient schedules, Technologist work schedules, Staff On-call Schedule, receipt of radioactive materials preparation and receipt of radio-pharmaceuticals preparation of patient doses disposal of radioactive materials
7. Teaching and Education Criteria A: Creates Staff meetings, in-service conferences to advise technical staff of all new and existing policies and protocols Teaching and Education Criteria B: Orients new staff, assigns Preceptor to new staff member, assures staff development to include RIS and PACS. Teaching and Education Criteria C: Maintains certification Teaching and Education Criteria D: Coordinate infection control, safety committee activities, equipment alerts, Joint Commission education training
8. Staff Technologist/ patient care Criteria A: Function as staff technologist as needed. Staff Technologist/ patient care Criteria B: Recognizes signs and symptoms and relays them to the Radiologist as part of exam. Staff Technologist/ patient care Criteria C: Prepares patient doses and administers in compliance with policy and procedures
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
10. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Required: ARRT or CNMT registered in Nuclear medicine, Five years work experience as a Nuclear Medicine technologist. Two years supervisory experience.
