Incumbents in this position protect assets and maintain order at city parks, recreation centers and forest facilities. Duties include: patrolling and responding to disturbances, alarms and vehicle breakdowns; investigating offenses and suspicious conditions, enforcing traffic and parking regulations and preparing reports. Work involves shift, weekend, holiday and mandatory overtime assignments. A shift differential is paid for evening and night work.

Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) certificate; plus two years of recent full-time paid law enforcement experience OR, two years of recent full-time paid Armed Security Guard experience OR, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Graduation from a recognized law enforcement training program may be substituted for six months of the required work experience.

AGE: Applicants MUST have passed their 21st birth date at the time of filing the Employment Application.

DRIVER’S LICENSE: Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license while employed by the City of St. Louis. Must possess a valid driver’s license at the time of filing the application and be able to present it at the Written Test. Please note type of license, number, class, and expiration date on the Employment Application. Applicants who do not possess a Missouri driver’s license will be required to present a “Driving Record Check” from their State’s Department of Motor Vehicles.

City of St. Louis Armed Private Security Officer License or Armed Metropolitan License must be obtained within 90 days of appointment.

Proof of age, education/training, driver’s license, Driving Record Check and/or Form DD214 (if applicable) must be provided upon request by the Department of Personnel.

MEDICAL: Candidates will be required to pass a Drug Screen Test, Physical Examination and successfully complete a Psychological Examination as part of the Medical examination procedure. Incumbents are subject to random Drug Screen and Alcohol Tests without advance notice as a condition of their employment.

VETERAN'S PREFERENCE POINTS: To be eligible for veteran's preference points, the applicant must submit a copy of his/her DD 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty with the Employment Application or at the time of the Oral Interview. The Director of Personnel may, in his discretion, accept alternate documentation.
