Network Engineers are responsible for the design, deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT infrastructure with a focus on networking equipment and associated services. As required, Network Engineers also provide support for desktop and server infrastructure.

Network infrastructure support
Deploying, configuring, optimizing, updating, and monitoring network equipment and associated services; analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving related issues
Server infrastructure support (as required)
Deploying, configuring, optimizing, updating, and monitoring servers and the services they host; analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving related issues
Service ownership (as assigned)
Taking ownership for one or more IT services, such as firewalls, WAN, or VOIP; this includes monitoring, patching, writing documentation, and otherwise ensuring the service is fully operational; this role may be executed individually or in co-operation with other service owners
Technical project leadership
Ownership of one or more technical projects, such as a new service deployment or site integration; in addition to performing technical tasks, this typically involves coordinating with management / other techs / users, creating task lists, estimating timelines, and creating associated documentation
Providing direction and training to junior level employees
Coming along side more junior level employees to provide technical guidance, training and, when directed by management, day-to-day direction
Resolution of tickets; especially where tickets have been evaluated and escalated from junior level employees
Automation of repetitive processes
Identification and automation of repetitive processes thereby improving efficiency of the IT organization
Identification of tasks that can shift to the desktop support or service desk teams, or to end users; this may involve documenting processes in the form of user guides or instructions for other technicians
Collaboration with other technicians and IT management in the US and abroad
Interfacing with other IT managers and teams on site, throughout the US, and around the world to provide a unified and efficient IT experience for LGC’s international workforce
