Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago are seeking a clinical child and adolescent psychologist to serve as a full-time non-tenure-eligible Clinician-Educator at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. This individual will join a multidisciplinary Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in a nationally-ranked, freestanding children’s hospital located on the medical school campus. This position is part of the Center for Childhood Resilience, a multidisciplinary team promoting a public health approach to addressing mental health disparities and reducing the impact of trauma and exposure of violence on children and families. Duties are primarily to:
Provide consultation to school district, community, and other agency leaders and staff to establish systems and build workforce capacity to support social-emotional learning and address mental health needs of youth;
Promote evidence-based practices through training and delivering technical assistance to community and school-based clinicians on mental health group interventions, for example Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS)
Engage in program evaluation and implementation research including a focus on translation and dissemination of evidence-based interventions and strategies in schools and other child-serving settings including community-based organizations;
Contribute to CCR and Hospital advocacy missions through participation in local, state and national stakeholder and advocacy groups related to mental health services and the impact of trauma and violence on children, youth, and communities.
Provide supervision, mentorship and seminar teaching in multidisciplinary child health and mental health training programs and graduate training program.
Clinical experience with children and adolescents is required. A PhD in clinical psychology and APA-approved internship are required, with at least one year of supervised experience with children and adolescents. Candidates with experience providing consultation to educators and mental health professionals or working in schools and community settings will be prioritized. Some overnight travel required.
Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Full-time position. Start date immediate after licensure in Illinois. Applications will be evaluated as received. The start date is negotiable and the position will remain open until filled.
