We're looking for a Senior HBSS Engineer to join a top-notch group supporting world class science and technology at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). Zurka Interactive is expanding our team at NRL in Washington DC. You will be part of a growing team managing centralized IT services on unclassified and classified networks for multiple sites across the US.
The candidate will work as part of a team responsible for engineering, implementing, and maintaining cyber security and compliance solutions for the Laboratory.
A qualified candidate will have experience with administration and operation of information security compliance tools and platforms with a special concentration in managing the Host-Based Security Suite (HBSS). The candidate will have experience managing the deployment of the McAfee ePO server(s), as well as experience maintaining the OS and SQL instances.
The candidate must have a solid understanding of McAfee Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Host Intrusion Prevention (HIPs), and Viruscan Enterprise (VSE). Knowledge of tuning and excluding IPS events, as well as having the capability to understand current firewall rules and create new rules is expected.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate understanding and appropriate application of DoD policy and technical security guidance to information systems. A solid understanding of Windows systems administration, general operating system security practices, TCP/IP networking, and network security concepts is required. Candidates must be able to understand and apply DISA STIG guidance to information systems, devices, networks, and platforms. Familiarity with the Certification & Accreditation process is preferable but not required.
Qualifications and Skills
A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or related technical field and minimum 2 years of information assurance experience is required.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and be able to take on tasks quickly with minimal direction. Strong organizational, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with a high level of attention to detail are required to succeed in this diverse environment.
Candidates must meet DoD 8570 requirements for an IAT II level position, including an active CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent.
U.S. Citizenship and a DoD Security Clearance (Top Secret) is required.
