The Department of Residence within the Division of Student Affairs at Iowa State University is seeking applications for a Facilities Mechanic III. This position will respond to day-to-day work orders by performing maintenance and repair of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating and ventilation systems. This position will also provide food service equipment support and perform preventive maintenance on facilities and commercial systems. This position assists in training and giving direction to student workers. Participation in an on-call rotation is required.
The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, be a highly motivated individual and a self starter, work well with staff to create good relations, and will have the ability to take direction. Additionally, proficiency in keyboarding and the use of computers is necessary.

1. Must possess knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment; and 2. Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.
Must have valid driver’s license and ability to be authorized to drive University vehicles.
License at journeyman level in one or more areas of electrical, plumbing or HVAC.
Experience maintaining and repairing industrial kitchen equipment.
Experience performing maintenance in a residential setting.

Some on-call and overtime work required.
