The Associate Scientist II will be a member of the Immunology Discovery group in a fast paced, highly matrixed and interactive environment. Janssen is looking for a motivated individual to join our Spring House-based team and contribute experimentally to programs targeting autoimmune disorders. As an Associate Scientist II you will:
Independently design experiments and draft study protocol based on team need
Prioritize, schedule and complete the experiments within pre-defined timelines
Accurately capture data in a timely manner, including maintenance of detailed records and electronic notebooks in compliance with data integrity requirements
Optimize or trouble shoot assays as well as data analysis, and provide technical support to other team members as needed
Design and prosecution of experimental strategies under minimal supervision, data analysis and accurate documentation and recording of data in compliance with data integrity requirements, and presentation of findings to peer scientists.
Need to show good organizational skills, flexibility and a proven ability to work collaboratively as well as independently in a fast paced, highly matrixed, interactive environment
A BS with 5 years of industry or academic experience in immunology, pharmacology and/or cellular biology OR a MS with 2 years of industry or academic experience in immunology, pharmacology and/or cellular biology is required
Hands-on experience with cell culture (cell lines and primary cells) is required
Proficiency with multi-color flow cytometry and immunophenotyping is preferred
Experience in assay development and assay optimization supporting large molecule or small molecule discovery in a pharmaceutical setting is preferred
Hands-on experience in developing biochemical or cellular assays to support compound screening or compound characterization is preferred
Experience in isolation and culture of primary immune cells from human whole blood and mouse tissues is preferred
Experience with quantitative PCR, multiplex cytokine analysis and biochemical techniques is strongly preferred
Hands-on experience with T cell subsets, specifically human regulatory T cells is preferred
A background in research in immunology and experiences in inflammatory diseases is preferred
