Associate Research Scientist I / Associate Research Scientist II / Sr. Associate Scientist I

The candidate will provide general assistance to the R&D Global Product Safety - Toxicology group. The group conducts non-clinical GLP-compliant toxicology, safety pharmacology and pharmacokinetic studies at external contract research laboratories in support of licensing of new and life-cycle pharmaceutical biologics. In addition, the group conducts literature-based toxicology risk assessments to support a variety of pharmaceutical projects. The candidate will have the opportunity to assist board-certified and doctoral-level staff in contract development, data management, as well as data review and compilation. The candidate will also be responsible for providing general administrative assistance to senior staff, including assistance in contract management, budget management, and supply ordering.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
With supervision, Individually or as part of a team, executes action plans in support of departmental objectives.
Provides technical data/ reports to immediate supervisor and reports within group meetings.
Assists or with Supervision, writes procedures or technical reports.
Communicates technical data to immediate supervisor, and capable of communicating technical results in team settings.
With direct or minimal supervision, develops solutions to technical problems within area of expertise.
Applies scientific principles, follows established techniques, and company’s policies and procedures in completion of job tasks.
Executes experiments with minimal supervision.
Assists in study design.

Requirements:
Associate Research Scientist I: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Toxicology) plus 1 year of job-related experience or Equivalency. No Degree must have a minimal of 4 + years’ experience.

Associate Research Scientist II: Master’s Degree in relevant field (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Toxicology) or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Toxicology) plus 2 years of job-related experience or Equivalency. No Degree must have a minimal of 5 + years’ experience.

Sr. Associate Scientist I: Master’s Degree in relevant field (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Toxicology) plus 2 years of job-related experience, or Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Toxicology) plus 4 years of job-related experience or Equivalency. No Degree must have a minimal of 7 + years’ experience.

Work is performed in a clinical and/or a laboratory environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to electrical office equipment. Exposure to chemicals. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves. Frequently sits and bends neck for 4-6 hours per day. May stand and twist neck for 2-4 hours per day. Occasionally walks, bends and twists waist and squats. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Moderate lifting of 15-30lbs. with a maximum lift of 35 lbs. May reach above and below shoulder height. Color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Frequently works with diverse groups to obtain consensus on complex issues. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Performs a wide range of complex tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.
