Job summary
The Red Hat Telco Consulting team is looking for a Senior Project Manager to help guide the adoption of Red Hat's solutions in our key telecommunications (telco) accounts and service provider partners. In this role, you’ll actively manage projects from initiation through delivery to to successful closure and completion, specializing in the telco services industry. You’ll need to have the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams through meetings and progress measurement activity to bring distinct, specific projects to completion both on time and within budget. You should be an experienced project management professional with a full understanding of industry standard project management practices and Red Hat policies and procedures, with the ability to interact with Red Hat and customer senior management. You will work on problems of diverse scope, evaluate identifiable factors, and demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. You'll also need excellent communication skills and the ability to support multiple teams and geographies for Red Hat's fast-growing services team. This position will be preferably located in New York, NY; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; Raleigh, NC; Washington, D.C.; or Toronto, Canada. Successful applicants must reside in a state or province where Red Hat is registered to do business.

Primary job responsibilities
Focus on developing appropriate project plans for launching DevOps projects from the initial concept to the final commercial launch stage
Manage multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity and deliver projects on schedule, and within budget
Identify process gaps and lead initiatives towards improvement opportunities in a matrix organization
Demonstrate ability to mentor other project managers, and teach and develop project management methodology and tools
Lead collaborative meetings on a regular basis to remove and mitigate risks and issues, and develop action plans to manage change
Produce presentations, charts, and graphs for tracking and reporting on project progress
Control project requirements, scope, and change management issues
Determine, monitor, and review all project economics to include costs, operational budgets, staffing requirements, resources, and risks
Ensure adherence to legally binding requirements
Facilitate development of recommended project control solutions to be used for planning, scheduling, and tracking projects through integration of various project management tools
Manage and deliver project forecast projections to both customers and internally within Red Hat
Work with the management on project proposals, bids, contracts, estimates, and schedules, and contribute to project estimation processes
Plan, schedule, monitor, and report on activities related to the project, including subcontractor monitoring
Establish appropriate metrics for measuring key project criteria
Develop project control and reporting procedures and manage changes in operational plan
Undertake status review meetings among project team members and customers
Integrate and use specific industry project management and technical delivery methodologies, e.g. methodologies based on PMI, Red Hat Services project management methodology, systems and software development, product development, scrum, agile, kanban
Assist in the training of the project team on application of appropriate procedures and motivate team members to accomplish project goals, meet established schedules, and resolve technical and operational issues
Maintain awareness on emerging technologies and project management techniques
Travel up to 50%
Required skills
7+ years of experience as a project or program manager managing large, complex enterprise IT projects
PMP certification
Knowledge of agile methodologies is a plus (i.e., SAFe)
Excellent relationship management and consulting skills resulting in proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders, mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach within a multidisciplinary, cross-functional, and complex work environment

Ability to articulate the project management value proposition and be an evangelist for the Red Hat Services project management methodology and techniques
Outstanding analytical skills
Solid verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Keen interest and experience in guiding change and making a difference
Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
University degree
Record of successfully managing complex projects from inception to closure
Telecommunications or service provider background
