The Assistant Professor is responsible for teaching, research and service. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. The position is tenure track and a nine-month appointment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking faculty to teach and advise graduate students in the entry level Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program, conduct research, and contribute to service and community engagement goals of the department and university. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to creatively engage students in didactic and experiential learning opportunities, and collaborate with faculty members to implement, modify, and regularly review program curriculum and outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Expertise in occupational therapy of practice, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated professionalism.
Required Education and/or Experience
Qualified applicants must have an academic doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field (PhD or EdD). Candidates nearing completion of doctoral degree will be considered. Applicants with a post professional clinical doctorate will be considered if strong evidence of teaching, research and service is provided. The successful candidate demonstrates an area of practice and/or research expertise, a record of teaching effectiveness, an active research agenda or evidence of a line of research, and the ability to facilitate faculty mentored student research.
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Teaching experience in an academic setting.
License(s)/Certifications (Required or Preferred)
Applicants must hold a license, or be eligible for a license, to practice occupational therapy in Arkansas and provide record of initial certification as an occupational therapy practitioner (if applicant is an occupational therapist).
