Assistant Controller

Established Delaware County electrical contractor is seeking an Assistant Controller. The individual will be expected to learn the organization and ascend to the controller position.
Educational Background:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications such as a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are a plus.
Experience:
- A minimum of five to seven years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or contracting industry.
- Prior experience in managing a small team is desirable, indicating readiness for leadership responsibilities.
- Proven track record with general ledger management, financial reporting, and other core accounting functions.
- Familiarity with industry-specific accounting methodologies, such as the percentage of completion method.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and systems relevant to the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, payroll, cash management, and bank reconciliations.
- Competence in preparing and analyzing financial statements and business analysis.
Analytical Skills:
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide insights that support business decisions.
- Critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems effectively.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong communication skills to interact with the management team, staff, external accountants, and banking professionals.
- Capability to maintain and nurture banking relationships.
