SCAD Savannah seeks a proactive assistant director to lead SCADforward, a program housed in the office for career and alumni success (CAS) that trains students to lead with a defined personal mission that influences their skill and process development and prepares them to successfully attain internships and other experiential learning opportunities.
In this full-time position, you will lead the development, implementation, and assessment of SCADforward and other career curriculum, programs, and workshops within CAS. You will train and mentor all staff who facilitate these programs, evaluate programming on a quarterly basis, and report student outcomes. In partnership with student success and advising, residence life, student involvement, and the International Student Services Office, among others, you will also develop communications that promote these career-focused resources. As an assistant director, you will supervise career advisers for first-year students; proactively engage with students, alumni, faculty, and staff to develop and promote early interaction with CAS; and oversee the integration of career education resources into academic departments through Blackboard and other platforms.
The successful candidate possesses a thorough understanding of the career development process, including sources and reference tools, and exhibits a high level of professionalism. With a background as an instructor, personal adviser, consultant, or counselor, the candidate is able to maintain a student-centered approach to the work. An excellent communicator with stellar interpersonal skills, the candidate thrives in fast-paced environment and demonstrates an enthusiasm for working with diverse populations. Strong writing and presentation skills are a must, as is a positive outlook and the ability to adapt quickly. Also essential to this role are resiliency, stellar problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage time, resources, and information.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (master’s degree highly preferred)
Significant professional experience in career advising, career education or experiential learning programming development, recruiting, or a related field
Experience training professional staff
