What You’ll Get to Do:
Assisting with the development or support of test criteria or requirements for ship system test plans
Coordinating or leading the engineering requirements of integrating aviation systems design criteria
Support continuous review of design documentation to ensure ship requirements for aviation certification are properly addressed in the design and that supporting system interfaces are comprehensively specified and captured
Provide support to the technical lead for aviation certification, who is responsible for all liaising with the prime contractors for all related technical issues for the seaframe
Assist in establishing procedures to identify and translate Interface Control Document (ICD) requirements and Build Specification (BSPEC) requirements for applicable systems into a detailed design with applicable engineering constraints per governing regulations
Provide technical and programmatic recommendations on Risk Reduction Testing, particularly within the area of aviation integration, as well as participate in the systems engineering risk monitoring and mitigation efforts for the ship
Perform in-depth engineering analyses and trade-offs of emergent technical concerns and risk and prepare and deliver written and orals reports documenting the nature of risk and recommended course of action
Provide technical guidance and advice as well as evaluate work products prepared by a number of contractors and field activities supporting the Program
More About this Role:
As the Aviation Integration Manager, the position will require being the interface between the following primary stakeholders; NAVAIR, NAVSEA Acquisition Program Office, Navy Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Prime Contractor, and Shipbuilder. The goal is to achieve hull over hull full Aviation Certification while meeting all requirements, staying on schedule and within cost constraints.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
US Citizenship is required with Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain/maintain such clearance.
BS in engineering (waived with prior, related, US Navy experience)
5+ years of experience with US Navy shipbuilding and aviation integration
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build/maintain long-term relationships with the team and customer.
Experience with the flight deck certification process and the ability to investigate and uncover contractor inadequacies according to program specifications
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Active DoD Secret
Experience with U.S. Navy PMS Program Office
Master’s in engineering
10+ years of experience with US Navy shipbuilding and aviation integration
Directly related experience with contract documentation, reading contract data, and familiarity with NAVSEA resource tools
