The Department of Pediatrics at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a Neonatology Hospitalist to join its team. The Renée Schine Crown Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a Level 3 (highest IL designation), 72 bed (single roomed), state-of-the-art unit. We care for critically ill infants who are born at Rush and/or transferred in from network hospitals. Our patient mix ranges from extremely preterm infants to those with complex surgical needs.
Our NICU has a robust multidisciplinary Quality Improvement (QI) program led by a neonatologist with expertise and certification in QI. Our center has had consistent excellent outcomes in several major neonatal morbidities in very low birth weight infants within the Vermont Oxford Network. The Division partners with Obstetrics and Pediatric subspecialists to provide prenatal care and consultation through our multidisciplinary Fetal-Neonatal Center. Our productive NICU Human Milk research team at Rush conducts clinical and translational research in diverse areas: clinical, neurodevelopmental and economic outcomes associated with mother's own milk and donor milk, disparities in lactation, maternal, infant and milk microbiome, human milk science, and lactation physiology.
The expectation for the neonatal hospitalist would be to care for a complex set of patients and work collaboratively with neonatologists, neonatal fellows, neonatal nurse practitioners, and pediatric residents. Responsibilities would include delivery room attendance and management, direct patient care, neonatal procedures, and night call.
Candidates must be Board Certified/Eligible in Pediatrics and may have fellowship training in Pediatric Hospital Medicine and/or Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Candidates will be eligible for a faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level, commensurate with their experience and accomplishments.
