As part of the Taste of Home Food team, the assistant editor will be responsible for supporting content creation and production efforts for the Taste of Home website. With solid food knowledge and an eye for detail, this individual will quickly assess and evaluate, edit and publish contributor recipes according to the brand’s digital content strategy. With a mix of creativity and detail-orientation, this individual will have abundant ideas, a way with words and basic knowledge of content search optimization and CMS platforms, such as WordPress. He or she will also possess strong time-management skills, and the ability to work efficiently, effectively and on deadline to meet Taste of Home’s ambitious daily, weekly and monthly digital production goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Evaluates, edits and publishes reader-submitted recipes and develops recipes.

Interprets analytics to make informed content creation decisions.

Writes copy for, formats and prepares editorial packages, such as digital articles, newsletters, social media posts and slideshows.

Work closely with editorial, analytics , art, photo, digital and test kitchen teams.

Keeps a close watch on food and lifestyle trends and tracks the competition.

Develops story ideas according to weekly goals.

Participates in and contributes to omnichannel brainstorm sessions.

Coordinates multiple projects simultaneously.

Ensures all project deadlines and goals are met.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

A degree in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts or related field, or equivalent work experience.

Up to 1 years proven writing, editing and proofreading skills. Digital experience , including content search optimization and Photoshop, preferred.

Working understanding of the digital landscape, including search engine optimization, social media channels and metrics.

Ability to think creatively on his/her feet, set priorities and quickly change course as data informs.

A keen familiarity with, and interest in, the food and food lifestyle space.

Basic knowledge of HTML/markup preferred.

Experience working with a content database preferred.

Ability to openly collaborate, verbally communicate and accept constructive feedback.

Ability to work autonomously, but also as part of an evolving, dynamic team.

Ability to organize and manage multiple projects at one time, consistently meet deadlines and catch all the details.

Ability to see his/her role in the larger part of the Taste of Home brand and work for the success of the team.
