POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Critical Care Education Specialist will act as a coordinator and instructor for critical care level classes including advanced EMS education in the East Twin Cities metro area and Western Wisconsin. Critical Care Education Specialist responsibilities will include preparing pre-class and post class materials; sharing this information with other instructors; preparing, replacing and cleaning equipment; encouraging, mentoring and managing students and assistant instructors in a professional manner; and instructing students in didactic and practical education according to course and/or Regions Hospital EMS guidelines. The Critical Care Education Specialist will facilitate the scheduling, preparation and delivery of AHA and ENA courses and EMS advanced education. The EMS education specialist will take an active role in education quality assurance and course improvement activities. The Regions EMS Critical Care Education Specialist position will include all of the above job duties and other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Associates degree in any field

Experience:
  • Minimum three years teaching experience in EMS or Nursing related courses
  • Minimum three years’ work experience providing critical care in a hospital or EMS setting

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
  • Current Minnesota or Wisconsin paramedic or nurse certification/licensure required
  • Wisconsin Level 2 EMS Instructor (required within one year of hire)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to demonstrate core humanistic values such as compassion, empathy, timeliness, and careful delivery of service in all daily interactions
  • Ability to communicate in person, in writing and by telephone
  • Aptitude to establish working relationships with the public, our medical direction customers and employees
  • Ability to deliver engaging and relevant education to adult learners
  • Detail oriented and able to conduct oneself professionally in a dynamic environment while prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Exceptional working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat software
  • Maintenance of professionalism and a standard of excellence with Region’s employees, managers, customers, and public
  • Competency to work independently, with autonomy and to meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of advanced EMS practices
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
  • Ability to do some travel
  • Ability to work some evenings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • College level coursework on adult learning theory, career/technical education, curriculum planning, experiential education or equivalent, strongly preferred
  • EMS DOT or NAEMSE instructor course completion, strongly preferred

Experience:

Experience teaching and/or course directing Emergency Nurses Association courses, preferred

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

Preferred Certifications: TNCC instructor, ENPC instructor, CPR instructor, ACLS Instructor, PALS Instructor
