Position Title: Teller Department: Operations

Handles complex vault and teller transactions which includes vault and ATM balancing, reconcilements, and teller differences. Provides excellent member service and actively cross-sells and promotes RPCU’s products and services.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Completes the following functions/duties of teller services as assigned by the manager**
  • Vault and Teller cash balancing, Reconcilements, Checks, ATM, BSA, VISA Gift Cards, Audits, Reports, etc.**
  • Adheres to all credit unions policies set forth and approved by the board of directors*
  • Actively cross sell and educate members on our credit union products and services**
  • Support branch and team initiatives to help grow the credit union. Participates in outreach programs as assigned by manager, to help promote the credit union’s image**
  • Provides high quality service to members by maximizing opportunities to cross-sell products and further educate members on financial literacy**
  • Actively assists the Financial Services Manager and Supervisor on special projects and initiatives**
  • Maintains a professional image at all times and upholds the credit unions’ core values**
  • Monitors and answers phone QUEUE calls promptly**
  • Becomes proficient with all scanning equipment and ensures retention files are logged when scanning for shredding; perform scanning as assigned**
  • Funds loans for the loan department as needed**
  • Helps train teller service staff as needed on various aspects of cash and teller operations**
  • Creates, maintains and manages monthly reconciliations, the Call Report data and other month end reports as required for effective operational controls**
  • Opens and maintain accounts, certificates and IRA’s and performs other account maintenance as needed**
  • Is actively a team player, and is able to work different multiple positions as needed such as the teller-line, greeter, and account services and be able to perform additional vault functions as needed.**
  • Responds to technical and operational questions or problems from credit union staff and make appropriate referral, recommendations and suggestions**
  • Responds to complex or problematic member questions or problems as appropriate and ensure the highest quality of member service and satisfaction**
  • Keep abreast of current developments in your field, department and other departments that directly relate to the operations of teller services or other pertinent positions**
  • Utilize credit bureau reports to cross-service members. Cross-sell credit union products and services when appropriate to obtain monthly teller services goals that have been established for the department as well as the individual**
  • Actively participate to establish a Member Service Culture at RPCU to assist with our member’s financial fitness and well-being. Assist, as necessary, in providing members with any of our services and products**


  • Identify areas for improvement, changes in procedures, new developments or changes in services**
  • Debit Card processing, maintenance, CAM Alerts, disputes, PIN resets, etc. as assigned**
  • VISA credit card processing, maintenance, CAM Alerts, disputes, etc. as assigned**
  • Returned mail as assigned**
  • Works with BSA Officer for SAR and CTR filings and training**
  • Completes monthly reports and procedures as assigned by management in a timely manner. Assist team members as needed to perform additional tasks or procedures assigned by management**
  • Works with lending services for product and service implementation; assistance and other functions or projects as deemed needed**
  • Participation in manager’s meetings, board meetings, annual meetings, chapter meetings, staff meetings, member appreciation, SEG visits and/or other functions may be required or optional**
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge if general economic conditions that may affect the credit union’s financial services products and operations**
  • Follows branch policies and procedures on a daily basis to remain in compliance. Completes monthly and annual training as assigned by management, reviews policies and procedures periodically to retain knowledge and remain in compliance**
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management**


  • Basic understanding of key Federal, State and credit union rules, regulations and laws including, but not limited to: Truth in Lending (Regulation Z), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B), Fair Credit Reporting Act, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (Regulation C), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), National Flood Insurance Act, Federal Fair Housing Law, Privacy and Freedom of Information Act, Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act, Holder in Due Course Rule, Regulations (CC, E &J), Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, UCC 3&4 UCC 3&4, SAFE Act, Credit Card Act.*The aforementioned duties are normal for this position.   • Required knowledge and Abilities:
  • Ability to work independently and requires little supervision.*
  • Knowledge of Portico, FiServ, Diebold, WORD, Excel, Loancierge and Powerpoint preferred**
  • Familiarity with credit union philosophy, work procedures and financial institution operations**
  • Ability to collect and analyze data**
  • Ability to perform minor math calculations**
  • Excellent telephone manners and techniquesTraining and Experience: *
  • A minimum of a high school diploma with emphasis on business or financial is preferred*
  • One to two years of job-related experience*

Salary: $12.00 to $15.00 /hour
